What we're listening for

We have not picked up the Philadelphia Vireo at the dock yet. The microphones stay on day and night, so the first time one calls within earshot it will appear here.

About the bird

The Philadelphia vireo is a small North American songbird in the vireo family. "Vireo" is a Latin word referring to a green migratory bird, perhaps the female golden oriole, possibly the European greenfinch. The specific philadelphicus is for the city of Philadelphia.
