Public fishing docks (free, no permit):
Marina docks: most Watts Bar marinas allow fishing from courtesy docks if you ask the office and spend some money there (fuel, snacks, bait). Don't fish around fuel customers; don't leave trash.
Private residential docks: off-limits without the owner's permission. TVA shoreline leases specify private use.
Dawn and dusk produce best across all species. Bluegill bite all day. Crappie hit hardest at sunrise, sunset, and full dark under dock lights. Catfish bite best from sunset through midnight. Midday summer (10 AM-4 PM) is the slowest window; pick the deepest, most shaded dock you can find.
